What the MLB Run Line Actually Means
In baseball, the standard run line is set at -1.5 for the favorite and +1.5 for the underdog. A -1.5 bet wins only if your team wins by two or more runs. Take the +1.5 side and your team can lose by one and you still cash. That asymmetry changes how you price starting pitchers, bullpen depth, and late-inning closers. We show
alternate run lines — -2.5, +2.5 — on marquee matchups when the market supports it. Juice on the spread shifts based on the starting pitcher listed at game time, so check the line before first pitch and note whether it's listed or action.
